Sinbeats’ self named CD is the third full lenght of the German band heading from Frankfurt and existing since 1990. The new album born after a long time of sound re-definition and after a new line-up change. The sound of the band succeeds into blending the 80s new wave/rock sounds (some names that come up into my mind are New Model Army, Alarm, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Fields Of The Nephilim) with 90s/’00s post rock melodies. If tracks like "All the Sundays" or "Shell beach" recall me The Suede, "I want my analogue life now" surprised me with an opening part a la Misfits just to change into something like the latest Franz Ferdinand as well as Sinbeats’ ballads like "Annabel Lee" or "Durango". The band’s sound is powerful and sincere and they convince with their blend of rockish pop wave.

BACK AGAIN
Vor einiger Zeit hatte ich schon die Vorab-Promo-CD der SINBEATS aus Deutschland besprochen, mit der sie sich bei Plattenfirmen um einen Vertrag beworben haben. Schon damals habe ich mich gefragt, welches Label da wohl zuschlägt. Fuego ist es geworden und für die Promotion ist Finest Noise zuständig, wo man ja sonst eher Alternative Rock gewohnt ist, aber es gibt auch immer mal wieder Überraschungen, so auch hier.
SINBEATS sind nur entfernt eine Alternative Rock-Band, je nachdem, wie weit man den Begriff fassen will. Rockig ist die Gruppe, dabei recht eingängig und vor allem dem guten alten Gitarren Wave zugetan, der ja in England gerade ein fulminantes Revival mit Bands wie Coldplay, Killers, Editors, Franz Ferdinand und vielen anderen erlebt. SINBEATS passen gut in diese Reihe, sind allerdings weniger poppig, aber trotzdem ohrwurmig, und noch deutlicher dem Wave-Sound der 80er verbunden. Dabei fallen vor allem die wunderbaren Melodien und der extrem angenehme Gesang auf, das das Album zu einem Werk machen, das man sich sehr gut am Stück anhören kann. Hier und da kommen noch ein paar Gothic Rock-Einflüsse dazu („I Want My Analogue Life Now“) oder es klingt auch mal ein bisschen wie Morrisseys Solosachen („All Your Sundays“) oder manche Stücke von Nick Cave (nicht nur wegen des Songtitels: „Annabel Lee“). Und auch einen hübschen „Wall Of Sound“ kriegt die Band problemlos hin („Bury My Heart“).Dabei behalten die SINBEATS aber immer ihre Eigenständigkeit, was eben vor allem am tollen Sänger liegt, der sehr natürlich und nicht gekünstelt rüber kommt. Mit „Farewell“ hat man einen genialen potentiellen Singlehit im Gepäck, der problemlos auch im Tagesprogramm der besseren Radiosender laufen könnte. Vielleicht sollte man wirklich wagen, den Song auszukoppeln und im Sog der genannten englischen Bands eine ausgiebige Radiopromotion durchziehen. Mit etwas Glück müsste das klappen und ich würde mich freuen, die SINBEATS im Radioeinerlei einen schwarzen Farbtupfer setzen zu sehen.
Wer schon in den 80er Jahren gerne Bands wie The Chameleons, Comsat Angels, The Sound, Psychedelic Furs und wie sie alle hießen, gehört hat, sollte auch mal die SINBEATS antesten, die zwar (zum Glück) nicht exakt wie diese Gruppen klingen, aber grundsätzlich mit einem ähnlichen Stil erfreuen. Top CD, die es verdient hätte, groß raus zu kommen. (A.P.)

The new self-titled album from Germany's Sinbeats has everything that makes gothic rock great. With moody verses giving way to driving, sing-along choruses, songs like album opener "Down The Line" and "Annabel Lee," a rendition of Edgar Allen Poe's love poem, are anthemic and powerful, and "Burning All Stars" is so upbeat and enthusiastic it could almost be described as perky. Fans of The Damned will particularly enjoy "I Want My Analogue Life Back," which draws heavy inspiration from the seminal dark punk band, right down to the jangling guitars and larger than life backing vocals, while the bluesy twang of "Poor Jack" and "Shell Beach" inject hints of country in the vein of Nick Cave without detracting from the band's dramatic atmosphere. So many of today's gothic bands seem afraid to really rock out, but Sinbeats thankfully have no such reticence, and even the occasional uneven moments, like the off-key slips that present themselves on "Farewell," somehow just add to the band's enthusiasm and charm. Check this out if you're a fan of that classic sound that doesn't skimp on gothic drama or good old-fashioned rock music.

If you missed the sound of eighties pop and their subtle darkness and melancholy you are in luck! Sinbeats present a dark pop that varies from almost gothic tunes to catchy songs full of great guitar work and strong base lines. The versatility of the voice work should be highlighted, sometimes deep and scratchy and others smooth and light-hearted. Down the Line, Farewell, All your Sundays or Durango are great compositions, in which the chorus always includes a change that catches your attention and gives the song a special energy, full of quality. The record is missing one or two big hits to be able to smash into the dark scene and win over many followers, however, I recommended giving it an opportunity: you'll be sure to find its allure. Normalerweise scheue ich mich ja, hier Bands vorzustellen, die keine MP3s zum Download anbieten, aber heute will ich mal eine Ausnahme machen - denn das Quartett Sinbeats aus Frankfurt verdient es, gehört zu werden! Vor einiger Zeit bot mir Sänger Harry Wolff deren Promo-CD an, die ich dankend annahm, sollten die Sinbeats sich doch dem Gitarrenwave der Marke Chameleons & Co. verschrieben haben. Das 13 Tracks umfassende neue Album der Band (ebenfalls schlicht mit «Sinbeats» betitelt) beginnt dann auch gleich mit drei absoluten Krachern - «Down the line», «Farewell» und «All your sundays» (hier gefällt mir besonders die leicht Cure-eske Hintergrundgitarre), die allein schon den Kauf der CD rechtfertigen würden. Anklänge an andere 80er Gitarrenhelden wie Killing Joke oder The Mission sind auch nicht zu überhören, allerdings klingen die Sinbeats definitiv nicht wie ein bloßer Abklatsch genannter Bands, sondern haben genug Eigenständigkeit in ihren Songs. Leider hält die CD das zu Beginn vorgelegte furiose Tempo nicht durchgängig bis zum Ende durch und klingt dann manchmal wie Fliehende Stürme oder EA80, doch 11 der 13 Lieder finde ich wirklich gelungen - eine top Quote! Die Band existiert übrigens schon seit den 90er Jahren und hat - damals noch als Trio - in der Zeit schon zwei Alben veröffentlicht.

-— Ammetto di conoscere per la prima volta, solamente ora i Sinbeats, gruppo tedesco attivo sin dal 1990 con due dischi ('Get High' e 'Low') e svariati concerti alle spalle, che ritorna con un nuovo cd 'self-titled'. La loro musica si muove ai confini tra tra New-Wave darkeggiante (Chameleons, Psychedelic Furs, Echo & The Bunnymen, Sad Lovers & Giant, Mission ma anche gli Xymox più rock di 'Creatures') e Indie Rock (alcuni cambi d'accordi m'hanno ricordato i primi, splendidi lavori dei compianti Suede) facendo tesoro della formula che discende direttamente dal Postpunk: incisivi riff di chitarra, ritornelli che rimangono in testa sin dal primo ascolto, ritmi sostenuti e un delizioso velo malinconico ad amalgamare il tutto. Ed ecco che irresistibili scivolano via una dietro l'altra 'Down the line', 'Farewell', 'All your sundays' e 'Burning all stars'; atmosfere invece leggermente più Wave e glaciali per l'inizio di 'Annabel Lee' che sfocia in un finale Goth-Rock Sisteriano, mentre 'I want my analogue life' ha echi, nemmeno troppo remoti di Nick Cave.
-|-|-» Un disco decisamente ben composto e suonato, che forse perde un po' di smalto nel finale ma che consiglio senza dubbio a chiunque voglia passare un'oretta in compagnia di canzoni accattivanti che vi obbligheranno a muovere le gambe e a scuotere la testa a ritmo.

SINBEATS son una interesante banda germana que existe desde 1990 y que tras un tiempo de inactividad creativa vuelven a la carga con este adictivo trabajo, el cual toma el nombre del grupo como título. Este álbum recoge 13 temas repartidos en casi una hora de melodías y guitarras primarias que nos embriagan con su peculiar estilo. Es complicado ponerles una etiqueta ya que tienen influencias muy diversas, pero lo que no se puede negar es que han conseguido un sonido propio y definido. Se puede decir que practican un Rock Independiente y Melancólico, que tienen influencias notables del After-Punk o Goth-Rock, que son oscuros pero con unas melodías que enganchan realmente, que su sonido tiene un punto a los ’80 y que no hacen uso de ese sonido “moderno” que hace homogéneas a muchas bandas. La verdad es que hay que escucharlos para saber de lo que hablo. Merece la pena, sino escucha el tema que han dedicado al clásico de Allan Poe ‘Annabel Lee’, o la pegadiza y melancólica ‘All Your Sundays’, la hermosa decadencia de ‘Durango’, la energía de ‘Sunshine’... Un disco muy completo de principio a fin que contra más lo escuchas más te atrapa. Muy recomendable sobre todo por su original personalidad y por lo que ellos mismos dicen: “Nuestras melodías tienen algo que contar”.

Sinbeats son un trio procedente de Alemania, cultures de un gothic rock tradicional, con claras referencias al sonido de la década del ochenta. Lejos de las modas que dominan la escena de la música oscura actual, no encontramos bases electrónicas ni voces distorsionadas. Lo mas atractivo de la banda es sin dudas la voz principal, profunda y melodiosa. El sonido estaría cercano a bandas como INTERPOL y Zeraphine y The Cure.
Mis temas favoritos? "All your Sundays" con una intro de órgano que preanuncia una melodía oscura y ganchera para las pistas de baile, con un estribillo de esos que coreas borracho abrazo a tus amigos. La balada "Anabell Lee" y la energía de "I want my analogue life now" y "Burning all Stars".
